Uses of the function key s F1 to F 12.

A function key is a key on a computer keyboard which can be perform  in program actions.

F1

to open help menu press F1.

Enter CMOS setup.

Windows Key + F1 would open the Microsoft Windows help and support center.

Open the Task Pane.

F2:

Usually used to rename (rename) a file or folder.

Alt Ctrl F2 opens a new Microsoft Word file.Print preview is displayed in the Microsoft word by pressing Ctrl +F2.

Enter CMOS setup.

F3:

Pressing it opens the search feature of many programs, including Microsoft Windows.

Shift F3 works by capitalizing the word text from uppercase to lowercase or the first letter of each word with up

Windows Key + F3 opens the Advanced find window in Microsoft Outlook.

In Windows Explorer, start the search function.

Open Mission Control on an Apple computer running the macOS X operating system.

In some programs, after an initial search is performed,

F3 will find the next search value.

F4:

Pressing  Ctrl +F4 closes all active programs.

Pressing Ctrl +F4 closes all active windows.

F5:

Microsoft Windows, Internet Browser etc are refreshed

by pressing F5.

F7:

F8:

Usually you have to press it to run in Windows Safe Mode.

 Web browser or an open window’s menu bar is selected

by pressing keys.

clicking on a selected text or attachment, link or image, right-clicking on a button.

Access the hidden recovery partition on Compaq, HP, and Sony computers.

Increase laptop screen brightness (on some laptops).

F11:

 Web browsers can be viewed

– across screens.

Enter and exit full screen mode in all modern Internet browsers.

Ctrl+F11 as the computer is starting to access the hidden recovery partition on many Dell computers.

Pressing F11 by itself accesses the hidden recovery partition on eMachines, Gateway, and Lenovo computers.

F12:

 Press the key as the Save As the window of the word opens.

 Shift+ F12  saves the Microsoft Word file.

And by pressing–

Ctrl  Shift +F12  the word file is printed.

Open the Save as window in Microsoft Word.

Ctrl+F12 opens a document in Word.

Ctrl+Shift+F12 prints a document in Microsoft Word.

Preview a page in Microsoft Expression Web.

Open Firebug or browser debug tool.
